The most popular social media campaign in Egypt.

Hello, my friends.

I am writing to you today about " The most popular, successful, and inspirational social media campaign has ever launched in Egypt."
Magdi Yacoub Heart Foundation has started its very remarkable fundraising campaign for the new Magdi Yacoub Global Heart Centre – Cairo.

The lovely donation campaign has found its way to our hearts in the middle east and around the world, despite the hard time of the 2019-2020 COVID 19 epidemic.
Magdi Yacoub Global Heart Centre – Cairo has been designed by Lord Norman Foster of Foster and Partners and DAR, one of the most brilliant international architects in the world. It will be built on 35 acres in Cairo. The design aims to create an environment that is: Healing-enhanced, Stress-free for working and learning, Environmentally efficient and, Patient- and user-friendly.

The campaign is telling the story of a child who was born with congenital heart disease and after a while of struggling with his inherited medical infirmity, He was successfully operated on at Aswan heart center.
After his total healing from the heart illness, He wakes up one day with the pain of the sternotomy scar, Stands up fronting his mirror and we hear the background song of one of the most beloved Arab singers: Tamer Hosny who says with his passionate voice "It is a mark for the beginning of a new life". The song has broken the number of 5.5 million views on youtube in less than 2 months!!

Magdi Yacoub Global Heart Centre – Cairo donation campaign succeeded to raise more than 360 million Egyptian pounds in the Arab Hope Makers initiative 2020 organized under the umbrella of Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives, a UAE-based foundation that combines wide-ranging humanitarian, social, development, and empowerment entities and programs.

And at last, I would like to ask you what do you know about open heart surgery? do you have any previous associated life experiences to share?

Electronic Membrane Keeps Your Heart Beating Forever

“My heart will go on, and on..” I can hear Celine Dion now.  And soon, your heart may be able to go on and on as well, thanks to a revolutionary electronic membrane designed to keep your heart rate beating perfectly.  The membrane is made from a  thin, circuit-lined stretchable material that has been developed at the University of Illinois and Washington University by scientists.  This technology may be available for human hearts in 10 to 15 years.

At this point, only rabbits can have a perfectly beating heart.  Scientists custom-made the membrane to exactly fit the shape of a particular rabbit’s heart.  In order to do this, they followed two procedures.  Firstly, they scanned the rabbit’s heart while it was still alive and created a 3D model using computer aided tomography (sectional images through penetrating waves). Secondly, using a 3D printer, they assembled the model which they then used as a mould to design the membrane. Once the membrane was created, they took the heart out of the rabbit, put the membrane on it and kept it beating at its perfect pace.

John Rorgers, materials researcher at the University of Illinois, stated that this technology is just like the natural membrane that is already on the heart, not just a pacemaker.  However, this artificial pericardium is equipped with high quality, man-made technology that can sense and communicate with the heart in ways that are relevant to clinical cardiology.  Igor Efimov, Washington University’s biomedical engineer, says that this is a big advancement.  The circuits are a combination of sensors that continuously track the tissues’ way of behaving and electrodes that exactly control the heart muscles’ movement:

If the heart were to suffer a heart attack, the membrane can apply therapy.  It can apply stimuli that can stop sudden cardiac death. What an amazing feat!!

Indoor pollution

There are two terms signifying the ill health due to indoor air pollution- sick building syndrome(SBS) and building related illness(BRI).

SBS is the existence of persistent, non-specific symptoms (e.g., eye, nose, and throat irritation; fatigue; headaches) that occur in more than 20-25% of a building's occupants. it dissipates once these inhabitants leave the building. It is usually a diagnosis of exclusion

BRI refers to clinically diagnosed disease(s) in building occupants and have defined diagnostic criteria, recognizable causes, and defined treatments. Typically individuals suffering from a BRI require prolonged recovery times after leaving the suspected environment, and successful remediation or mitigation requires elimination of exposure to the causative agents.
